Cool! I'm just starting to notice kestrels back in my neighborhood - such neat birds!

They are wonderful birds, and like clockwork, egg number four arrived this evening.

The male stopped in for a quick visit and covered the eggs for a few minutes.

Aha!  Smiley  I was wondering earlier if there was some shell in the corner or stones.

I'd seen the shell for awhile, but this is the first I've been able to see of the chick.

I haven't been able to get a good head count here since they tend to stay in one big bunch but this looks like four hungry chicks here.  I don't believe there is an egg that has not hatched, but can never distinctly see five.

I was just about to say the same thing, Linda!  The chicks always seem to be in a pile. I am sure there are at least four, and probably five. Dad has been taking his turn with the chicks - he has such beautiful coloring.
