Countdown to Shutdown #1: Geese take over N2B

Since we’re shutting down on Saturday for annual maintenance, I wanted to relive some of our favorite moments of the 2022 season. Everyone was fascinated when a Canada Goose laid eggs in N2B this year! The little goslings jumped on April 28. Four of the five goslings survived the leap and we saw three goslings with their parents in the stream the next day. The family didn’t stay long: based on what we saw in and around the hatchery, we think they rejoined the larger group of geese by the hatchery pond.

We talked about it precocial versus altricial here: https://www.raptorresource.org/2022/03/25/canada-geese-precocial-versus-altricial/ and the jump itself here: https://www.raptorresource.org/2022/05/03/goose-jump-highlights/.
