What are we looking forward to this week?

Hatch has started at the Canada Goose nest, which means the leap of faith should happen tomorrow or Wednesday! The Missouri Turkey Vultures laid their first egg in the loft early on Sunday morning, so we’re looking for a second egg later today or very early tomorrow morning. DH2 entered its third week of life on Friday, so we’re watching for grey thermal down, emerging ‘mohawks’, and possibly pellet casting.
It appears that the Wisconsin kestrels have chosen a nest box we don’t have a camera in, so we won’t be watching them this year. But the kestrels at Xcel Energy’s Pawnee plant in Brush, Colorado, have laid four eggs in their nestbox, with more likely to come! Speaking of Colorado, FSV47 and 48 are keeping Ma and Pa Jr. busy and showing the spirit of Colorado mountaineers as they explore their nest. Spring has sprung and the birds – and us! – are very busy!
