DNF eased our minds when she brought her first stick of the season to the North nest today! While we’re keeping our talons crossed for nest occupancy just a little bit longer, nestorations are a good sign that the pair has accepted our rebuild. If they do, it will be our fifth successful rebuild: once at N2B, once at N1, once at Fort St. Vrain, and twice at DNN! Perhaps we should start an eagle construction company? I guess we already have!

October 14, 2024: First Stick of the Season! https://youtu.be/2SImtn1saA8?si=RToiBTQYKMc_K3Sg. The video opens with a brief look at a raccoon before transitioning to the nest. At 39 seconds, Mr. North arrives. DNF joins him with a dramatic fly-in at 1:32 and proceeds to give Halloween vibes as she moves things around under IR candlelight. A stick fledges at 2:37, startling them and us. Don’t go underneath a bald eagle’s nest – that stick was big enough to do some damage!
October 14, 2024! Stick stick hooray! DNF brought the first stick of the 2024/2025 season into the newly rebuild North Nest this morning. The Halloween vibe continues when a lone coyote begins singing at 3:27. But it’s almost sunrise and the camera switches to color mode! The camera operator gives us several views of the eagles, but I especially like the one that begins at 6:05. DNF is stunningly resplendent against a background of fall foliage. She arrives with the first stick at 7:02 – 9:49AM CDT – into the video. October 14, 2024: An extremely cool look at the barred owl in the North Nest this morning. I guess owls like our nests too!Looking for more eagles to watch?
