Nest Round-Up!

We have a nest round-up! We are getting a lot of questions about the Decorah nest. Have we seen pip? What is going on there? Are you still reporting on it? We are! As of 8:35pm on March 29: Decorah: We haven’t seen a verifiable pip yet, although the rain has Mombrella and PopTent up and in action! We are at 37 days + about an hour and a half now, so our best guess for an external pip is

First Peregrine Hatches of 2016!

We have our first known peregrine hatches of the year! Dairyland Power Genoa began hatch on April 28th, with three eyass falcons hatching on the same day, and Great River Energy Elk River had its first hatch just this morning. Six Eggs at Xcel Energy’s Sherco Plant?

A falcon on six eggs? That is what we appear to have at Xcel Energy’s Sherco plant in Becker, Minnesota! The first four eggs laid here were fully pigmented, but the last two are lighter in color and easily identifiable. A few possibilities: The falcon is incubating four eggs laid this spring and two eggs laid last spring. Last year’s resident falcon laid four eggs, but none of them hatched.
