Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving 2023!

Happy Thanksgiving! As we approach the end of 2024, all of us at the Raptor Resource Project want to thank you, our supporters. Today we are taking stock and remembering our founder Bob Anderson, who passed away nine years ago: a good time to remember where we started. The Raptor Resource Project is sustained by its mission: to conserve birds of prey, educate people around the world about raptors and their habitats, and transform knowledge and passion into conservation action.

Observing Veteran’s Day

Observing Veteran's Day

On November 11, Veterans Day, we honor and celebrate the service of all military veterans. You heard the call of duty and left the lives you knew to answer it. With respect, honor, and gratitude: thank you for your patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. When we think of veterans, we think of our friends and family. But veterans also include dogs, horses, pigeons, elephants, mules, camels, bald eagles, and canaries. Animals

Happy Independence Day!

Celebrating the 4th of July: https://www.raptorresource.org/2021/07/04/happy-4th-of-july/

On July 4th of 1776, the Declaration of Independence was ratified by Congress. We remember and celebrate that day today. From every mountaintop, river bottom, prairie vista, city park, rooftop, picnic, suburb, garden, balcony, from every cliff, from every phone, from every computer, from where ever you are watching, learning, caring, and sharing, let freedom ring! The bald eagle’s role as a national symbol is linked to its 1782 landing on the Great Seal of the United States. The First

May 27, 2024: Memorial Day Image

Today we are commemorating Memorial Day to honor the sacrifices of the men and women who died serving in America’s armed forces. On behalf of all of us at Raptor Resource Project, we extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have served or are serving our country. Fly high and free! The bald eagle is the emblem of the United States, and its fierce beauty and proud independence aptly symbolize the strength and freedom of America. But

And this book? It’s a favorite (no offense, Mom – you are the best! 😂): https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/08/world/moms-than-you-book-wellness-scn/index.html. We wish all Moms an awesome day!

Hoppy Easter, everyone!

Hoppy Easter!

Hoppy Easter, everyone! We have eggs at many of the falcon nests we watch and plenty of places to go on an Easter egg hunt! Bald eagles lay white eggs, peregrine falcons lay eggs that range from light cream through brick red, and red-tailed hawks have pale eggs that are lightly splotched with brown. How and why do the birds we watch lay differently colored and shaped eggs? https://www.raptorresource.org/2023/03/20/egg-colors-and-shapes/. How many treats did DH2 find in its Easter basket this

Here is to nest lovers and followers all around the world: the things we’ve learned, the beautiful wild families we’ve watched and protected, and everyone who came together to share hope and mourn loss in the birds’ lives and in our own lives. You gave us the joy of community in yet another difficult year. Thank you so much for being here. May 2023 be a better year for all everyone we hold dear, and may those we carry in

Happy St. Patrick’s Day From the Raptor Resource Project!

Celtic Tree of Life

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to our friends near and far! May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you, and all your heart might desire! In celebration of the day, we wanted to share an eagle conservation story from Ireland. In 2020, Glengarriff Nature Reserve announced the arrival of a white-tailed sea eagle chick, the second born in Co Cork in this decade.

Happy National American Eagle Day and Fledge Fundraiser! Feel welcome to share your favorite memories and captures from our Decorah and Decorah North nests below! Today is a special day to commemorate the anniversary of the Bald Eagle’s selection as our National Symbol, to celebrate its physical recovery to America’s skies, and to observe the American values, ideals and attributes for which it stands. Why did the Bald Eagle nearly become extinct? It’s a long story. Bald eagles were America’s
