Watch out for that wind, DNF! Tonight’s NestFlix round-up includes a tipped up DNF at the North nest and some memory lane Decorah Eagles videos from 2020, 2019, and 2018. Egg laying is just two or three weeks away and Mr. North and DNF need to make every moment count as they cope with ongoing snow and cold!

January 31, 2021: Sunday evening with the Norths – https://youtu.be/q_1FmHsIxII. Here we go again! The Norths are back to snow removal with just two or three weeks to go before they usually lay eggs! The two spend a little time in the nest, although they don’t bring in spft materials. I loved to see DNF scraping in the snow at 12:57 – go, DNF! – although I wanted to reach in and wipe the dinner remains off her face! By 15:29, both eagles are perched on the Love Branch. DNF flies up to a higher perch. The dead branch acts like a trampoline: fun for bouncing, but no good for night time perching!
January 30, 2021 – Windy out there, a little stick tango: https://youtu.be/HcCpSrRKP6Y. Watch out for the wind, DNF! The video opens with Mr. North on the nest. DNF seems to float in on the wind beginning at 13 seconds. She supervises Mr. North very closely, largely ignoring the wind that is blowing up her tailfeathers. A sudden gust nearly upends her at 58 seconds, but she recovers quickly. He flies out at 2:29 while she works in the nestbowl, vigorously churning her legs to get the softness and depth just right! Mr. North flies back in at 2:49 and stick tango ensues. Slow down the video at about 2:45 to see her getting ready for his arrival.
