What does hatch look like? We got a wonderful view of the final moments today as eaglet DH2 at our trout hatchery nest made its way out of the shell. We remain hopeful for the Decorah nest and will answer some of your questions about the hatchery nest and the north nest tomorrow.
It has seemed like an awfully tough year for the bald eagles we watch in Decorah and across the United States. For you, the broken-hearted nest watcher, I quote Kaeli Swift: “Please, rather than shutting down those deep feelings you have for wildlife…lean into them. Teach your friends and neighbors and children to feel those deep feelings. Because it’s from that space that we can do best by wildlife…”. Thank you so much for taking this journey with us.
