Golden Eagle Diaries: GOEA 150

GOEA 150 is 33 years old. We think we have backpacked a mated pair and are very excited to see where they go!

This Golden Eagle was banded in October 1992 in Ashfield, PA as a hatch-year bird, making him nearly 33 years old! That places him among the oldest known North American Golden Eagles. Last week, GOEA team members Abbey and Ana trapped Golden Eagle 150 as part of our ongoing Golden Eagle research project. GOEA 415, 417, and 695 are all back on their wintering grounds in the Driftless! What did their 2024 journals look like? Let’s take a look! We’ll start with Golden Eagle 417.
